What is Floatation Therapy?
Floatation Therapy involves floating in a specially designed pod of body-temperature water that has 500kg of pure magnesium salts added.
This creates an environment that allows the body to float effortlessly. The benefits include complete relaxation, reduced stress, reduced pain, better sleep and improved mental clarity.
The floatation pod's unique design provides a silent and darkened environment to reduce external stimuli. Combined buoyancy and sensory deprivation allow your mind and body to enter a state of complete relaxation

WHEN NOT TO USE FLOATATION THERAPY
While floatation therapy offers deep relaxation and many benefits for the mind and body, it’s important to know that it’s not suitable for everyone. Your safety and wellbeing are always our top priority, so we kindly ask that you avoid booking a float session if any of the following apply:
-
You have an open wound, infection, or contagious skin condition
To maintain hygiene and protect your health, it’s best to wait until your skin has fully healed.
-
You have epilepsy or seizures that are uncontrolled
Floatation is not recommended unless you have medical clearance and your condition is well-managed.
-
You are currently under the influence of drugs or alcohol
Floating requires awareness and a calm state—sessions cannot be provided if you’re intoxicated.
-
You have extremely low blood pressure
The deep relaxation of floating can lower blood pressure further, so please speak with your GP before booking.
-
You’ve recently had hair dye or spray tan
Wait at least 10 days after colouring and 7 days after tanning to protect the float pod and for your own comfort.
-
You are in your first trimester of pregnancy
We recommend waiting until the second trimester and checking with your healthcare provider before floating. Floating is generally safe up to 36 weeks gestation.
-
You’ve consumed caffeine just before your float
Caffeine can stimulate the nervous system and make it harder to fully relax. For the best experience, try to avoid coffee, tea, or energy drinks for at least 2–3 hours before your session.
If you’re unsure whether floatation therapy is right for you, feel free to reach out, we’re here to help guide you safely and mindfully.
DISCLAIMER
-
You must be over the age of 16 and agree to the terms and conditions of use.
What is floatation therapy?
Floatation therapy (also known as sensory deprivation) involves lying in a warm, enclosed tank filled with magnesium-rich Epsom salt water. The water is heated to skin temperature, allowing you to effortlessly float and deeply relax without any external distractions—light, sound, or pressure.
What are the benefits of floating?
Floating can help reduce stress, ease muscle tension, improve sleep, support mental clarity, enhance creativity, and promote overall nervous system regulation. Many clients report a sense of calm and emotional reset after just one session.
How long is a float session?
At Holistic Haven, sessions typically last for 60 minutes. This gives your body and mind time to fully unwind and settle into the experience. First-timers often notice the second half of the session is when true relaxation begins.
Do I need to bring anything?
Just yourself! We provide everything you need—towels, earplugs, body wash, shampoo, and a space to shower before and after. If you have long hair, you might like to bring a brush or hair tie for after your float.
What if I’m claustrophobic?
The float tank is more spacious than most people expect. You’re always in control—you can leave the lid open, and soft lighting is available if needed. Many people with mild claustrophobia feel surprisingly safe and spacious inside once they settle in.
Will I fall asleep?
You might—and that’s perfectly okay! The water is so buoyant that it supports you fully, and the environment is incredibly soothing. Many people drift into a light sleep or meditative state during their float.
Can I float while pregnant?
Yes, floating can be especially supportive during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters. It can help ease pressure on joints and give you a beautiful sense of weightlessness. However, we do not recommend floating in your first trimester, and always consult with your midwife or doctor before booking.
How should I prepare for my float?
-
Avoid shaving or waxing the same day as the salt may sting.
-
Don’t drink caffeine for at least 2–3 hours beforehand—it can make it harder to relax.
-
Eat a light meal 1–2 hours before your session.
-
Arrive a little early to ground yourself and settle in.
How often should I float?
Everyone is different. Some people float weekly to manage stress or pain, while others come monthly for maintenance and reflection. We’re happy to help you find a rhythm that works for your needs and schedule.
Is it hygienic?
Absolutely. Our float tank is thoroughly filtered and cleaned between every session, and the high concentration of Epsom salt is naturally antibacterial. We follow strict sanitation protocols to ensure a safe and clean environment for all.
